The University Hospital and East Madison Hospital are embarking on two significant expansion projects aimed at enhancing their medical facilities and services. These expansions are projected to cost between $180 and $220 million.
The primary objective of these expansion projects is to increase the hospitals' overall capacity and capabilities in surgical, emergency, and inpatient services.
The first project, located at University Hospital, involves the construction of a six-story structure that will house various medical facilities. These include 22 emergency department rooms, 22 flexible care beds, and 48 inpatient rooms.
The second project is focused on East Madison Hospital and is geared towards improving surgical and emergency capabilities.
The expansion plan encompasses the addition of six state-of-the-art operating rooms, 40 recovery rooms, and 20 post-anesthesia care rooms. Additionally, there will be 14 flexible care rooms to accommodate patients with varying medical needs.
The emergency department at East Madison Hospital will also be bolstered with the inclusion of 20 new rooms, enhancing the hospital's ability to respond to urgent medical cases. Furthermore, the project includes four care rooms designed for dual usage between the emergency department and medical imaging services.
Both projects are currently in progress and are expected to be completed in 2026.
