AI Medical's Endoscopic AI System to Treat Gastric Cancer

AI Medical Service has launched a new endoscopic Artificial Intelligence (AI) system that uses the company's AI programmes to analyse endoscopy images for potential diagnosis of gastric cancer.

The AI technology aims to improve endoscopic specialist's diagnosis of gastrointestinal issues in the esophagus, stomach, and intestines.

The AI Medical Service's system uses neural algorithms that are trained with large real-world datasets of images of biopsy-proven cancer lesions, benign lesions, and normal tissue that were captured using standard endoscopes.

The system will help physicians performing endoscopies to detect lesions that may be cancerous.

AI Medical's technology that is designed for concurrent usage holds the capacity to detect gastric, colorectal, and esophageal cancer, whereas other entities technology tends to focus only on colorectal cancer.

Gastric cancer is a disease in which the malignant (cancer) cells form in the lining of the stomach. Symptoms include indigestion and stomach discomfort or pain.

The breakthrough device designation for the system was granted by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
