BD Launches First-of-its-Kind CentroVena One™ System to Advance Central Line Insertion Safety

BD has announced the commercial launch of the BD® CentroVena One™ Insertion System, the first all-in-one central venous catheter insertion device available on the market.

The system is designed to simplify central line placement, improve workflow efficiency and enhance patient safety in acute care settings.

Traditional central line insertion involves multiple component exchanges, which can increase the risk of contamination, delays and complications.

The CentroVena One™ system combines key components, including the introducer needle, syringe, guidewire and catheter, into a single platform to streamline the procedure.

According to the company, the new system reduces procedural steps by 30% and cuts insertion time by 50% compared with standard methods. It is also designed to lower contamination risks and help prevent insertion-related complications.

Key features include a pre-loaded kink-resistant guidewire, an integrated safety mechanism to reduce needlestick injuries, a self-dilating catheter tip and a closed insertion system that helps minimise air embolism and blood exposure risks.

The device has received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance and was accepted into the FDA's Safer Technologies Program (STeP). CentroVena One™ is now commercially available across the United States.
