ENvue Medical Develops Novel AI-Driven Tool to Automate Feeding Tube Placement
ENvue Medical has developed and demonstrated a prototype of ENvue Drive, a robotic-assisted tool designed to support feeding tube placement by combining artificial intelligence, real-time navigation and automated procedural assistance.
The prototype operates within the company’s ENvue electromagnetic navigation platform and integrates its AI-based Ask Oscar software.
During the demonstration, the system identified anatomical pathways, detected changes in the planned trajectory, provided corrective guidance and assisted with advancing a feeding tube towards the small intestine under clinician supervision.
The technology is designed to support clinicians rather than replace them, with healthcare professionals maintaining control throughout the procedure.
The company said the development represents a step towards combining navigation, AI and automation within bedside clinical workflows.
ENvue Drive builds on the company’s 510(k)-cleared ENvue Navigation Platform, which is used in US hospitals to provide real-time electromagnetic guidance during enteral feeding tube placement.
The company intends to develop the platform for additional procedures, including vascular access, neonatal care and urinary access.
The current demonstration focused on enteral feeding tube advancement. ENvue Drive remains an investigational prototype and has not been submitted to the US Food and Drug Administration for clearance or approval.
