ExThera Medical Introduced Novel Seraph® 100 Filter
ExThera Medical has introduced a novel Seraph® 100 Microbind® Affinity Blood Filter, or Seraph 100.
The Seraph 100 is an innovative patented blood filter, that features a biomimetic surface designed to replicate the natural receptors found in the human circulatory system.
It is specifically engineered to address a critical issue – the removal of pathogens that have the potential to cause severe and critical illnesses in patients.
When a patient's blood passes through the Seraph 100 filter, it encounters specially designed beads with receptors that closely mimic the receptors found on human cells. Pathogens, which typically target these receptors when invading the body, are swiftly captured and adsorbed onto the surface of these beads. This process effectively eliminates harmful substances from the bloodstream.
Seraph does not introduce any substances into the bloodstream, instead it selectively targets and removes pathogens responsible for infections while also eliminating harmful substances generated by both the pathogen and the body's response to the infection.
This is achieved through Seraph's unique adsorption media, consisting of chemically bonded heparin-coated beads. These beads are highly adaptable, known for their blood compatibility, and possess the distinctive capability to bind circulating tumor cells, bacteria, viruses, fungi, and key sepsis mediators associated with organ failure during sepsis.
This innovative approach enhances patient care by effectively addressing infection-related challenges.
