First-of-its-Kind VCFix® Spinal System Developed for the Treatment of Vertebral Fractures

Amber Implants developed first-of-its-kind medical device named VCFix® spinal system to treat vertebral fractures.

VCFix® spinal system is the latest solution used for the treatment of vertebral fractures which does not depend on bone cement. The VCFix® spinal system makes use of user friendly single-use sterile surgical kit for perfect traceability and to lower infection risks in patients. VCFix® will be the newest generation, easy and safe treatment for the patients with vertebral fractures.

With the use of 3D-printed perforated structure, VCFix® implant makes faster bone in growth as a more natural healing process, and provides better stability and better distribution of loads in the spine.

Patients with vertebral fractures suffer from severe back pain. It is estimated that approximately 1.5 million people are affected with vertebral fractures. People suffering with vertebral fractures face limited mobility and moreover increased rate of mortality in an already vulnerable elderly population.

Injuries caused by vertebral fractures are currently treated with injection of PMMA bone cement into the vertebra. Moreover 65 per cent of patients face different side-effects after the treatment.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Breakthrough Device Designation for VCFix® spinal system for Vertebral Fractures.
