GE Healthcare Launches Sonic DL: AI Deep Learning Technology for Faster MRI
GE HealthCare launches FDA cleared Sonic DL – a state-of-the-art deep learning-based technology specifically designed to accelerate image acquisition in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), particularly for cardiac MRI.
Sonic DL emerges as a game-changer in cardiac imaging, offering a significant improvement in efficiency, image quality, and patient comfort. One of the key benefits of Sonic DL is its ability to reduce cardiac MRI scan times by up to 83 percent.
This dramatic reduction in scan time significantly enhances productivity in radiology departments, streamlines workflows, and helps alleviate backlogs.
Sonic DL technology revolutionises the scanning process, achieving speeds up to 12 times faster than traditional methods. By matching the speed of MRI to the speed of physiology, Sonic DL minimises or eliminates the need for repetitive patient breath-holds, simplifying procedures and expanding the pool of patients eligible for cardiac MRI.
By overcoming the limitations of conventional acceleration techniques, Sonic DL enables radiologists to capture high-quality images of the beating heart with unparallelled precision and image quality.
The current adoption of cardiac MRI globally remains relatively low, primarily due to the lengthy exam times associated with traditional methods. Conventional MRI acquisition is too slow to capture the heart's contraction in real-time, requiring multiple heartbeats and breath-holds.
This process is time-consuming, can lead to degradation in image quality, and is physically demanding for patients. The demand for fast, high-quality, and comfortable cardiac MRI imaging is growing, and Sonic DL aims to address this need.
