Merit Medical Systems Launches Endovascular Graft System

An endovascular stent graft system under the name Merit WRAPSODY™ has been launched by Merit Medical Systems.

The WRAPSODY system is a flexible, self-expanding endoprosthesis.

Merit intends to seek indication for use in hemodialysis patients for the treatment of stenosis within the central veins of the outflow circuit of an arteriovenous fistula (AVF) up to the superior vena cava.

The WRAPSODY system is nearing completion of its first-in-human studies and is currently not available for sale.

Endovascular stent grafting is a procedure in which a tube-shaped device is placed inside a diseased vessel. There will be no surgical way of opening the tissue surrounding the diseased vessel.

The US Food and Drug Administration has granted breakthrough designation for the device.
