Novel LDGraft Developed for the Treatment of Spinal Fusion
Locate Bio developed novel LDGraft, next generation bone graft for anterior lumbar interbody spinal fusion (ALIF) procedures at one level from L3-S1 specifically for patients with degenerative disc disease (DDD).
LDGraft is a next-generation bone graft substitute specifically designed for spinal fusion procedures. It stands out due to its unique feature of encapsulated rhBMP-2 (recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2) for controlled and extended-release.This innovative approach may offer improved outcomes for patients undergoing ALIF procedures for the treatment of degenerative disc disease.
LDGraft is designed to address the needs of patients with DDD by providing an osteoconductive scaffold and a controlled and extended release of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein 2 (rhBMP-2), which is an osteoinductive agent.
Unlike traditional approaches that involve the use of liquid-phase or surface-attached rhBMP-2, LDGraft utilises a proprietary polymer scaffold system to encapsulate the rhBMP-2. This encapsulation allows for a gradual degradation of the scaffold over several weeks, enabling a continuous release of rhBMP-2 during the healing process.
DDD is a chronic condition that leads to the deterioration of the intervertebral discs in the spine, causing symptoms such as low back pain, radiculopathy, myelopathy, spinal stenosis, degenerative spondylolisthesis, and herniations.
U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) grants Breakthrough Device designation for LDGraft.
