ScoutCam Develops First Operating Room-Ready Wireless Endoscope

ScoutCam develops new operating room-ready wireless endoscope to simplify the endoscopic process and make general surgeries more easier.

The first-of-its-kind wireless endoscope is designed for the medical procedures named orthopedics and general surgeries. The new device ranges a 1.1mm x 1.1mm Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) camera that can be disposed after a single-use whereas the normal endoscope used in medical procedures measures around 8mm x 10mm.

OR-Ready Wireless Endoscope consists of a water proof camera which is smaller than that of the size of rice grain.

Some of the prominent features of the newly designed endoscope include:

  • High resolution and image quality
  • Close minimal focal distance of 3mm
  • Protection from operating room interferences
  • Zero latency

OR-Ready Wireless Endoscope with the introduction of new features added to it will reduce the time consuming medical procedures in minimally invasive surgeries. The new technology increases the efficiency of the endoscopic procedure at hospitals and other medical facilities.

Wireless Endoscope approved under the FDA's Accelerated Approval regulations suggests hospitals and other medical facilities to make transition from reusable duodenoscopes to the single-use variants.
