Singapore General Hospital Deploys AI Tool for Brain Bleed Detection
Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Synapxe and health technology company Iota MedTech have launched iScreen, an AI-powered tool designed to analyse head CT scans for signs of intracranial haemorrhage (ICH), or brain bleeds.
The system is the first head CT model deployed on AimSG, Singapore’s national AI medical imaging platform.
iScreen analyses scans continuously and alerts radiologists when potential ICH is detected, helping prioritise urgent cases.
AI-generated findings are reviewed and verified by radiologists before a final report is issued.
SGH conducts around 50 head CT scans each day, with approximately 10% identifying acute ICH.
The condition can occur following stroke, aneurysm rupture, tumours or head trauma and requires rapid assessment to reduce the risk of serious complications.
Following integration into SGH’s radiology workflow in January, iScreen has helped reduce reporting turnaround times for CT brain scans with acute ICH.
AI results are typically available in around six minutes, supporting faster clinical review and prioritisation.
The deployment also demonstrates the use of AimSG to integrate AI into public healthcare imaging workflows.
The platform allows multiple AI models to be managed and scaled across Singapore’s public healthcare institutions, supporting wider adoption of medical imaging technologies.
