Solid Core Pressure OmniWire Discovered for Coronary Artery Interventional Procedures

Royal Philips discovered solid core pressure OmniWire signed for coronary artery interventional procedures.

OmniWire allows physicians to easily measure and guide the delivery of catheters and stents along with patients’ blood pressure throughout the vessel. Moreover, OmniWire provides physician’s an advanced solution at every step of the procedure.

Traditional pressure wires consisting of a hollow metal tube (hypotube) transmits the pressure information. Because of the thin walls, they get twisted sometimes becoming challenging during procedures. Hence, OmniWire designed with solid core pressure guidewire consisting of advanced conductive ribbons is implanted in its outer polymer layer to communicate pressure information.

OmniWire’s front (distal) part makes use of Nitinol, a super-elastic, durable material which is commonly used in non-diagnostic, interventional ‘workhorse’ guide wires whereas the back (proximal) part of the wire is made from a high-strength cobalt alloy to provide high durability for complex and multi-vessel cases.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the world’s first solid core pressure guide wire for coronary artery interventional procedures.
