Stryker Completes First SportSuite Vision Surgery

Stryker has announced the first surgical procedure using SportSuite Vision on Apple Vision Pro at Duke Health in the US.

The application received FDA De Novo authorisation on 17 July, becoming the first application authorised by the FDA for intraoperative use with Apple Vision Pro.

SportSuite Vision is designed to provide surgeons with access to digital clinical information within their field of view during procedures.

The technology can display arthroscopic images and other digital tools, including HipCheck, HipMap and CT imaging, alongside the physical environment of the operating room.
Arthroscopic procedures often require surgeons to view information across multiple monitors positioned around the operating room.

SportSuite Vision brings these sources into a spatial computing environment, reducing dependence on conventional displays and supporting a more streamlined surgical workflow.
The first procedure was a hip arthroscopy performed by an orthopaedic surgeon at Duke Health.

The system allows surgeons to customise the position of clinical information according to their workflow while keeping relevant data visible during the procedure.

The development highlights the growing use of spatial computing in surgical environments.

It also represents a step towards more connected digital operating rooms, where imaging and procedural information can be integrated into the surgeon’s working environment.
