Vitestro Introduces Aletta, the First-of-Its-Kind Device for Blood Draw Automation

Vitestro has announced the official name of its autonomous blood-drawing device: Aletta™. This marks the introduction of the first robotic system designed to carry out blood collection with a high level of precision and reliability.

Aletta is designed to support healthcare professionals by improving efficiency and accuracy in blood collection. 

By integrating into hospital and laboratory settings, it aims to enhance patient experience and reduce the workload on medical staff. 

This device is classified as an Autonomous Robotic Phlebotomy Device™ (ARPD™), introducing a new category in medical robotics focused on automating venous blood draws.

The technology behind Aletta includes AI-powered Doppler ultrasound and imaging to identify veins accurately. A robotic-controlled needle insertion system ensures consistency in blood collection, minimising variability. 

The device is fully automated, reducing dependence on human intervention while maintaining a seamless integration into existing workflows. Clinically tested on over 4,000 patients, Aletta has demonstrated safety and comfort levels comparable to or better than manual blood draws.

Vitestro is preparing for wider adoption across hospitals and laboratories in the region. Plans are also underway to obtain regulatory approval in the United States, with a multi-centre clinical trial currently being conducted in collaboration with leading academic medical institutions. 

The introduction of ARPD technology is expected to address growing healthcare staffing shortages while improving access to high-quality diagnostics.
