The management of human waste is recognised as a high risk for transmission of infections. Faeces contain just about every group of
human pathogen such as Clostridium difficile (C. difficile), Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci (VRE), multi drug-resistant Gram-negatives (MDR Gram-negatives), Meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Norovirus, which are significant to and commonly encountered in healthcare environments.
