James Brodie of Johnson & Johnson MedTech Appointed Chair of Medtech Canada Board of Directors

Medtech Canada, the national association representing Canada’s medical technology companies, has appointed James Brodie, General Manager of Johnson & Johnson MedTech Canada, as Chair of its Board of Directors. Brodie brings nearly 25 years of leadership experience across various divisions of Johnson & Johnson, including medical devices, technology, and pharmaceuticals. His expertise spans sales, marketing, innovation, employee development, and customer engagement. Brodie holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology and an MBA in Health Services Management from McMaster University.

Joining Brodie on the board are five new members: Bryan Howcroft (Southmedic Inc.), Trisha Hutzul (Edwards LifeSciences), Marcey Quenneville (Coloplast Canada), Ken Spears (Boston Scientific), and Daniel St-Pierre (Abbott). Ivy Parks (BD Canada) will serve as Secretary-Treasurer.

Brodie expressed excitement about his new role, stating, “The medtech industry can make tremendous contributions to positively impact the quality and sustainability of healthcare in Canada, and I’m honored to Chair the Medtech Canada Board of Directors.”

Nicole DeKort, President and CEO of Medtech Canada, praised Brodie’s leadership and experience, stating that his guidance will be instrumental in advancing the association’s goals of increasing the adoption of medical technology solutions to address healthcare challenges in Canada.

The board also thanked outgoing Chair Dehlia Blanchard of GE HealthCare Canada, as well as departing members Mike Canzoneri (Canadian Hospital Specialties), John Hanley (Baylis Medtech), Sophie Pouliot (ConvaTec), and Martin Roy (Christie Innomed) for their contributions to the organization.
