PACS Group, Inc., a leading and rapidly growing post-acute healthcare platform, has appointed Dr. Patrick H. Conway, MD, MSc, to its Board of Directors.
His appointment brings extensive clinical, regulatory, and executive leadership experience to the organization, strengthening its focus on quality care and innovation.
Dr. Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, the health services division of UnitedHealth Group, where he oversees a broad portfolio spanning pharmacy care, health management, care delivery, and analytics. His career reflects a strong commitment to advancing healthcare quality, accessibility, and value-based care models.
Between 2011 and 2017, Dr. Conway held key leadership roles at the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), including Deputy Administrator for Innovation and Quality, Director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, and Chief Medical Officer. He also served as Acting Administrator, helping drive the transition from fee-for-service to value-based care and expanding alternative payment models across Medicare.
Earlier, he contributed to clinical operations and quality improvement at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He later served as President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, where he advanced value-based payment strategies.
Dr. Conway was elected to the National Academy of Medicine and continues to practice as a pediatric hospitalist. He holds an M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine and advanced training from leading U.S. institutions.
