Slawek Kierner
Olympus Corporation, a global MedTech leader dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes, has named Slawek Kierner as its new Chief Digital Officer - Smart Connected Care (CDO-SCC).
This strategic appointment underscores Olympus’s commitment to transforming its digital capabilities and building a fully integrated, intelligent healthcare ecosystem.
In this newly established role, Kierner will report directly to Chief Technology Officer Syed Naveed and spearhead Olympus’s digital transformation initiatives, focusing on the convergence of AI, robotics, software, and medical devices. His leadership will be pivotal in shaping and advancing the company’s Intelligent Endoscopy Ecosystem, anchored by OLYSENSE, Olympus's cutting-edge, cloud-based digital platform.
OLYSENSE aims to seamlessly connect endoscopic devices, robotic technologies, and digital solutions, enabling real-time insights, remote capabilities, and improved procedural outcomes. Kierner’s appointment marks a strategic shift from Olympus’s traditional hardware-centric approach to a dynamic, software-driven model focused on continuous, adaptive innovation in Smart Connected Care.
A globally recognized expert in digital health, AI, and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), Kierner joins Olympus from Intuitive Inc., where he served as Senior Vice President of Digital Experiences and Machine Learning Platforms. There, he led the development and deployment of the company’s AI Suite and supported more than 10,000 connected robotic surgical platforms worldwide, delivering scalable, data-rich clinical solutions.
Prior to Intuitive, Kierner was Chief Data and Analytics Officer at Humana, overseeing its enterprise AI strategy and leading a company-wide cloud transformation. He also held senior roles at Microsoft, where he was a founding member of the Power BI team and led applied machine learning efforts in the Business Applications division.
Kierner holds a PhD in Clinical AI Architectures, dual master’s degrees in Mechatronics and Management, and has completed executive education at Harvard Business School. He is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Kierner’s addition to the executive team signals Olympus’s continued evolution as a digitally enabled, data-driven MedTech company focused on redefining the future of minimally invasive care.
