Rich Almada
CareAbout Health, a leading healthcare management company, has announced two key leadership appointments. Rich Almada has been appointed as Chief Strategy Officer, where he will oversee the company’s strategic planning and execution of all reimbursement models and payer contracts. Additionally, Dr. Munish Khaneja, who previously held the role of Chief Strategy Officer, has transitioned to the newly created position of Chief Physician Officer.

Almada brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as Chief Operating Officer of Optum's risk-based entity, Advantage Plus Network-Connecticut, and Senior Vice President of ProHealth Physicians. His career also includes leadership positions at Aetna and a startup health insurance company, where he built a comprehensive provider network.
Dr. Shami added, “Dr. Khaneja has been a pivotal leader at CareAbout Health since its inception. His expertise in value-based care has shaped the company’s trajectory, and we look forward to his continued contributions in his new role as Chief Physician Officer.”
Dr. Khaneja’s background includes serving as Chief Medical Officer at Altruista Health, as well as senior roles at EmblemHealth, Affinity Health Plan, and Greater Hudson Valley Health Center. He is also a board member and advisor to various national organizations and continues to serve as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate and SUNY Stony Brook Colleges of Medicine.
