Arun Nagdev, MD

Butterfly Network, a pioneer in semiconductor-based ultrasound technology, programmable cloud software, and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered imaging solutions, has appointed Arun Nagdev, MD, as its Chief Medical Officer – Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). 

In his new role, Dr. Nagdev will oversee the company’s global medical strategy for its core POCUS business, focusing on advancing clinical product validation, strengthening customer engagement, and supporting regulatory and clinical development initiatives.

Dr. Nagdev brings more than two decades of experience in advancing the adoption, education, and clinical application of point-of-care ultrasound across healthcare settings worldwide. He currently serves as an attending physician and Director of Emergency Ultrasound at Highland General Hospital, while also holding the position of Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco.

Throughout his career, Dr. Nagdev has held leadership roles in prominent medical organizations, including the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, where he has contributed to the development of ultrasound education and clinical standards.

His expertise also extends to the integration of ultrasound with artificial intelligence and medical technology innovation. Before joining Butterfly Network, Dr. Nagdev served as Vice President of Clinical at Exo and advised leading imaging companies such as Philips and Fujifilm SonoSite on clinical strategy and product development. A widely recognized researcher and educator, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and delivered invited presentations around the world. His appointment is expected to further strengthen Butterfly Network’s leadership in expanding the adoption and clinical impact of AI-enabled point-of-care ultrasound technologies.
