Cardiac Dimensions®, a leader in transcatheter therapies for heart failure, has appointed William T. Abraham, MD, as Chief Medical Officer.

In this role, Dr. Abraham will guide the company’s clinical and regulatory initiatives as it advances toward U.S. regulatory approval and continues to expand European sales of its Carillon Mitral Contour System®.

Dr. Abraham is a globally recognized authority in heart failure and device-based therapies. He brings decades of experience in pioneering treatments such as cardiac resynchronization therapy, remote hemodynamic monitoring, and transcatheter valve repair. At The Ohio State University, where he serves as College of Medicine Distinguished Professor, Dr. Abraham previously led the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine for more than 15 years and has authored over 650 peer-reviewed publications.

Most recently, Dr. Abraham served as Chief Medical Officer of V-Wave Ltd., where he directed the U.S. pivotal trial of its interatrial shunt therapy. His leadership was instrumental in driving the program forward, ultimately contributing to the company’s acquisition by Johnson & Johnson. In addition, he has served as national or global principal investigator on more than 50 multicenter clinical trials, including several landmark studies in the mitral valve space.

The Carillon Mitral Contour System has already received CE Mark approval and is commercially available in Europe and other regions that recognize CE Mark. Dr. Abraham’s appointment further strengthens Cardiac Dimensions’ mission to deliver transformative therapies for heart failure patients worldwide.
