Geisinger Tunkhannock Invests US$15 million to Open New Clinic in Walmart, USA

Introduction:

Geisinger Tunkhannock is investing US$15 million to open its new clinic building in Walmart, USA.

Features:

The newly opened clinic provides a range of services, including primary care, women’s health, ear, nose, and throat treatments, a pharmacy, laboratory facilities, and imaging services. Additionally, outpatient care for neurology and general surgery is also offered.

The 32,000-square-foot facility now offers an expanded range of services. Outpatient cardiology appointments have increased from two days per month to a three-day-a-week schedule. Additionally, haematology/oncology services have expanded from three infusion chairs and two exam rooms to six infusion chairs and four exam rooms.

The clinic has upgraded its radiology equipment, incorporating a state-of-the-art mammography unit. In addition, the pharmacy is set to test a new in-clinic dispensing model for both acute and maintenance medications.

The scheduled ConvenientCare walk-in clinic at the new site has been enhanced to a ConvenientCare+ model. This upgraded version offers all the services of a traditional ConvenientCare while also addressing the county’s requirement for emergency services. At ConvenientCare, patients can have advanced treatment for non-life-threatening emergencies like:

  • Nebuliser therapy for managing breathing issues
  • IV fluids for dehydration
  • IV diuresis for urinary conditions
  • IV or oral steroids for inflammatory conditions
  • IV antibiotics for infections
  • Treatments for high or low blood sugar
  • Medications for high blood pressure
  • Heart rate control for atrial fibrillation (A-fib)

The investment will support surrounding communities by providing a newly renovated clinical space, increased availability of appointments in expanding speciality programmes, and an improved walk-in care model aimed at making better health more accessible for patients and members.
