UofL Health plans for the expansion and upgradation of UofL Hospital.
Features:
The new seven-story tower features 360 beds, each in a private room, 20 operating rooms, and a new 24-bed observation unit. It will also include the infrastructure to accommodate two more floors for future growth.
As part of expansion, the increased clinical space consists of enhanced visitor experience with a new lobby, space deisgned for waiting area.
The new patient tower is licensed to operate up to 404 beds, whereas the existing facility is limited to operate a capacity of 340 over the last several years. The addition of new beds and observatio units will create rooms for nearly 50 more patients thus reducing the wait times for patients.
The expansion will approximately create 325 new jobs including nurses, plus clinical and non-clinical support.
The construction is expected to start in spring and fully operation in early 2024.
