Providence Seattle's Radiosurgery Center Adds Second Accuray CyberKnife® System: Enables Precise Radiation Treatments in 1-5 Sessions

Friday, January 26, 2024

Accuray Incorporated has recently announced that the Providence Swedish Radiosurgery Center in Seattle, Washington, is expanding its cancer treatment capabilities with the acquisition of the latest CyberKnife® S7™ System. This purchase marks the hospital's second CyberKnife radiation delivery device investment and will greatly enhance their ability to treat cancer and neurologic disorders with precision and accuracy.

The CyberKnife S7 System offers advanced features designed to improve operational efficiency while maintaining the highest levels of precision required for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). Utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), the system can track and adapt to tumor or patient movement during treatment, delivering radiation with sub-millimeter precision in as little as 15 minutes.

The Providence Swedish Radiosurgery Center has been at the forefront of radiation medicine, having pioneered the use of SBRT in prostate cancer treatment with the CyberKnife System over a decade ago. Their ongoing research extends to exploring the application of SBRT in treating tumors in various body regions and using radiosurgery to address cancer and neurological conditions in the brain. This investment underscores the center's commitment to advancing patient care and expanding access to innovative treatment options.
