French photonics developing a technology partnership strategy in India

Monday, August 17, 2015

French photonics will be in India from the 6th-11thof September, traveling to Bombay, New Delhi and Bangalore for the LASER WORLD OF PHOTONICS INDIA 2015 Show.

Seeing how dynamic photonic optics has become in India, France's competitiveness hubs and clusters dedicated to the same sector - OPTITEC, ELOPSYS, MINALOGIC, Photonics Bretagne, Optique Rhône-Alpes and Optics Valley - will be sending an official delegation composed of their members to travel the country far and wide.

With the support of the DGE and Business France, the  task group will focus on setting up B-to-B meetings, giving French participants the chance to identify technological partnership opportunities with Indian companies and laboratories. Some participants will also present their research work at the thematic conferences held during the LASER WORLD OF PHOTONICS show.

The French photonics sector represents 657 industrial companies with a turnover of sales generated in France of € 10.45 billion. This industrial strength represents 13.5% of the European industry. In comparison, the industrial part of the German leader is 35%. Besides these 657 industrials, 109 companies of services, 116 distributors and over 200 integrators complement this community.

The French industrial photonics production sectors which are the most important are lighting, defense-security, components, thin films and photonics for the environment and health.

There are seven photonic clusters in France which benefit from a strong support of the French state and the regions. Their main missions are the representation of the sector to national and European institutions, the link between research and industry and the development of small companies.

OPTITEC is a community of 200 highly committed members in south of France. OPTITEC plays a key role in industrial development, research and higher education in the field of optics/photonics and imaging. OPTITEC works to promote a field of expertise, photonics, within the goal to be at the rank first among national and European competitive clusters. By boosting structuring projects and supporting the SMEs through customized services, OPTITEC's strategy is to develop photonics in four strategic areas: Green Photonics, AgroFood Market, Security and Surveillance, Scientific & Medical Instrumentation.

Photonics Bretagne is a high performing cluster of approx. 80 research centers, schools and companies all in the field of photonics in Brittany (Western France). Perfos is the R&D platform of Photonics Bretagne. It develops custom microstructured fibers (silica and chalcogenide), from conception to integration and offers a large panel of services including scientific studies, consulting in photonics and modelling.

ALPAO: Adaptive optics and deformable mirrors ALPAO manufactures a complete range of adaptive optics products for use in research. Their products are specially designed for astronomy, ophthalmology, microscopy, wireless optical communications, and defense and laser applications. ALPAO deformable mirrors are based on continuous reflective surface motioned by magnetics actuators. They feature large strokes, linearity and fast settling time to meet and exceed your requirements for fast, accurate wavefront correction.

Amplitude Systèmes, nothing but ultrafast.Amplitude Group (Amplitude Systèmes and Amplitude Technologies) is the only company which offers all ultrafast laser technologies available today, from industrial fiber lasers to high energy Petawatt class Ti:Sapphire lasers. The company offers industrial fiber lasers, ultrafast lasers, diode-pumped ultrafast lasers, high average power femtosecond and picosecond amplifiers, high power ultrafast fiber lasers, compact ultrafast fiber lasers, and ultrafast lasers; and high energy diode-pumped femtosecond and picosecond oscillators and amplifiers.
