St. David’s HealthCare announced the opening of St. David’s Surgical Hospital—a campus of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center. The destination hospital dedicated to surgical services was built by a developer and acquired by St. David’s HealthCare in May 2016.
When the facility opens on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, physicians affiliated with St. David’s North Austin Medical Center will provide specialized surgical care across a range of surgical specialties, including orthopedic, neurological, bariatric, gynecological and urological surgery, among others.
“At St. David’s Surgical Hospital patients will find a unique facility with unusually spacious patient rooms, high-end furnishings, gourmet food choices and the latest in technology,” Allen Harrison, chief executive officer of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, said. “Blending these features with high-quality care from our talented team of physicians and nurses, we are confident patients will have exceptional experiences at our newest hospital."
The facility is located five miles north of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and includes a 146,381-square-foot destination surgical hospital and an adjacent 80,000-square-foot medical office building. The 8.5-acre property also includes a 500-space parking garage.
The hospital features 40 inpatient rooms, 10 operating room suites with natural lighting, 11 pre-op bays, 19 post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) bays, a six-bed intensive care unit (ICU), imaging, pharmacy and lab services.
In anticipation of this opening, St. David’s Surgical Hospital began hiring staff members in June 2016. A team of 130 full-time staff will provide patient care at the facility and will conduct all aspects of the hospital’s operations.
