Today, HealthMine, Inc. announced that it has expanded its Advisory Board with two new members, Donald R. Fischer, MD, MBA and Mitesh S. Patel, MD, MBA, MS.  The HealthMine Advisory Board helps guide HealthMine as the company brings individual and population wellness into the digital era with its Personal Clinical Engagement solution.

Donald R. Fischer, MD, MBA — Dr. Fischer is an independent health care consultant who was the Senior Vice President of Health Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at the health insurance carrier Highmark, Inc. from 2004 through 2015. Among his responsibilities were clinical strategy, medical management and policy, care management services, utilization management, quality management and preventive health services. Dr. Fischer practiced pediatric cardiology at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for many years, and served as the Medical Director of the Children's Hospital from 1996-2000.

Mitesh S. Patel, MD, MBA, MS— Dr. Patel is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Health Care Management at the Perelman School of Medicine and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Primary Care Physician at the Crescenz Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia and is on the faculty at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Care Innovation and the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics. His research focuses on studying innovative ways to change health behaviors and improve health outcomes by combining connected health approaches that collect patient-generated health data with engagement strategies that leverage insights from behavioral economics. Dr. Patel is also the Director of the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit, an initiative within the health care system to systematically test ways to apply insights from behavioral science to choice environments to improve healthcare value and outcomes.
