East Alabama Health Invests US$32.5 million for the ICU Expansion in USA

Introduction:
East Alabama Health plans for the expansion with the addition of three additional floors to the West Pavilion at East Alabama Medical Centre (EAMC) in USA.

Features:
The proposed project aims to enhance critical care services and provide flexibility for future expansion needs at the East Alabama Medical Centre (EAMC) in the USA.

Construction will involve adding three new floors above the existing two-storey West Pavilion, resulting in the incorporation of 30 additional critical care beds and accommodating future growth requirements.

After its completion, the expansion will provide an additional 67,395 square feet of space spread across three floors. These floors will serve different functions: the third floor will accommodate mechanical facilities, the fourth floor will provide space for future expansion, and the fifth floor will incorporate the newly established 30 critical care beds.

The first floor is dedicated to cardiovascular care, housing two state-of-the-art cardiovascular operating rooms, ten specialized CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) rooms, and the Cardiac Rehab department, while the second floor accommodates twenty ICU (Intensive Care Unit) beds and a satellite pharmacy.

Notably, the fifth floor will host a 20-bed ICU with a satellite pharmacy, alongside a 10-bed unit designed for interchangeable use between step-down and intensive-care patients.

Construction is scheduled to commence in the summer of 2024, with a targeted completion date set for late fall 2025. It is anticipated that the first patients will receive care in early 2026.
