The University of Kentucky Plans to Construct New Cancer and Advanced Ambulatory Building in USA

Introduction:
The University of Kentucky plans to construct new cancer and advanced ambulatory facility in USA.

Features:
The new facility, spanning 550,000 square feet, will focus on cancer care and feature a dedicated floor for ambulatory surgery and procedural activities. This area will comprise eight operating rooms (ORs) capable of accommodating endoscopic procedures, along with intake areas, recovery bays, central sterile units, and endoscopic processing units.

The new facility will consolidate all cancer programmes and related services under one roof, enhancing convenience for patients while fostering valuable synergies and collaborations among prominent clinicians and researchers.

Alongside its comprehensive cancer services, the new building will feature a comprehensive spine care centre employing a transdisciplinary approach. This centre will be dedicated to providing a diverse array of services aimed at diagnosing, treating, and preventing various spinal conditions.

This collaboration will involve experts from four key departments - orthopaedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurosurgery, and anaesthesiology - working together to determine the best options for patients.

Completion of both the cancer and ambulatory centre, along with a new parking garage, is scheduled for 2027.
